Is that a battery at the back of the drive?
That is a motor for the eject mechanism.

Thanks for clarifying.
I recently bought one of these drives for a project because (as far as I know) it is the only Apple drive which just requires 5 Volts.
All the rest require +12, -12, +5 volts.

Interesting, indeed HDI-20 connector has only 5V. It is exactly the same drive as internal PowerBook 1xx drive.
