Commodore Monitors by Model Number
Commodore 1802 monitor was released in 1986, it matches well the white-case Commodore C64G, C128 and C128D. There were two cover designs equipped with the same internals – first as in the above picture, second – probably older design similar to 1901 – as on the picture below.

When recapping, please pay attention to C806 near the back input panel. Its polarisation markings on the top and bottom of the PCB contradict each other. The correct polarisation is on the top of the PCB – plus facing the back of the monitor.

What a great, and bloody thorough resource you’ve provided. Fantastic. Just bought one of these at auction and the power switch and volume controls are working, but faulting. Most likely corrosion over time, but these photos really prepare me before opening her up. Thanks.

Fantastic! I have one of these with the dodgy power switch and missing door. Any idea where to get a replacement door? Even 3D printed would do. The monitor is very yellow and has writing on top as it belonged to a school, so I’m looking forward to giving it a refresh! Thanks for all the info 🙂
It is rather impossible to buy a separate original cover door. They surface rarely and get auctioned at unreasonable prices. Maybe you can find a 3D model somewhere. It can be easier to buy a broken monitor with the cover. Good luck.

I have the 1802D PAL version and C214 is a 10uF 16v capacitor, but in this list its 330uF 16v. Is the 1802 and 1802D different internally? I can’t find any data sheets other than that C214 is a 10uF capacitor.
I would bet C214 should be 10uF. For some reasons my board had 330uF mounted, maybe it does not really matter there. The version I documented here was 1802D – at least this is what the mactar.hu page says. I have 1802 too, as far as I can remember when I disassembled it the everything inside looked exactly the same as in 1802D and I decided to not dedicate a separate page to it.
Perhaps there’s a service bulletin about this although I can’t find any. If it works in your monitor I’m sure it will work in mine as well. Thank you!
Could you measure the dimensions of the speaker, please? I got an 1802 with a 3rd party speaker that was just laying around openly within the case… because it doesn’t fit into the place where it belongs. 😉 I would like to try finding some replacement speaker that I could mount in the 1802.
Unfortunately I can’t do it soon since my monitor is not where I am. But do you have the plastic bracket that holds the speaker? The dimensions can be told from it.
my brother’s computer store shuttered and got a complete C64 setup with this monitor. Nice to read about it. The plastic is really yellow. Maybe take apart and retro bright. Anyways, nice writeup
